Fred Drake a6c2eb5e1e Donn Cave <donn@u.washington.edu>: 
Do not assume that all platforms using a MetroWorks compiler can use
POSIX threads; the assumption breaks on BeOS.  This fix only helps
for BeOS.

This closes SourceForge patch #101772.
